Near St. Petersburg, in the vicinity of Tsarskoye Selo, a chain of mysterious murders takes place. Young women are dying at the hands of an unknown maniac. These deaths are united by the same style - bestial cruelty and a strange weapon used to mutilate the victims. Horror and hysteria disrupt the calm flow of life of the inhabitants of the capital's suburbs. The people have already come up with a nickname for the villain - the Tsarskoye Selo Murderer. Here, in Tsarskoye Selo, is the Lyceum (a closed elite school at the imperial court of Alexander I). The oldest student is 18, the youngest is 14. Among them are Alexander Gorchakov, Ivan Pushchin, Alexander Pushkin, Konstantin Danzas, Wilhelm Kuchelbecker, Anton Delvig. In the future, their names will forever go down in the history of Russia, but now they are ordinary schoolchildren who fall in love, get drunk, play pranks, write poetry, go on dates, challenge each other to a duel, joke about teachers, organize secret societies and get involved in any dubious enterprises. With the youthful excitement characteristic of their age, the lyceum students also join in the search for the criminal. Moreover, our heroes themselves fall under the suspicion of an investigator who specially arrived from St. Petersburg. Now the future top officials of the Russian state are forced to prove their innocence, and the only way to do this is to bring the criminal to light...
