An obsessed collector hires climber Mike for a fabulous sum to retrieve a clutch of eggs from a rarest breed of eagle. Mike arrives at a picturesque private island owned by Jim, a Vietnam veteran who lost his wife and young son. Now Jim lives as a hermit and protects the animals from brazen poachers. A complex relationship binds Jim and Stella, the owner of a small fishing tackle shop. She and her son are drawn to Jim with all their hearts...
