A Simple Life

Masha, a native Muscovite, sells her apartment and sacrifices her job to get her beloved husband Sergei out of prison. After his release, the couple are left penniless; and, worst of all, it turns out to be impossible to get a job with a criminal record. In search of a way out of the impasse, the family leaves Moscow for a remote village to live with Masha’s old friend. But will the capital’s intellectuals be able to live in new conditions, where no one cares about their education and secular manners? Will they be able to cope with such a seemingly simple life?..
