At Home Among Strangers, a Stranger Among His Own

The action of this psychological “western” takes place in the 20s in a small provincial town in southern Russia. The civil war is over, but the Bolsheviks are still far from complete victory. A group of thugs of former white officers rob a train with gold to buy bread for the starving, and five friends, former red fighters, enter into a deadly fight with them. It turns out that suspicion of betrayal falls on one of them (the first role of Bogatyrev in a feature film), and, having escaped from his comrades, he alone must return the gold to prove his innocence.
