At the end of the 19th century, in 1896, New York is shaken by a series of brutal murders: children are being killed in the city slums, each time more and more sophisticated - as if some kind of bloody ritual is being performed. The investigation is being conducted by a bright team: the future president and currently police commissioner Theodore Roosevelt, the outstanding alienist psychologist (studies mental pathologies) Laszlo Kreizler and crime reporter John Skyler Moore.
