Call Me Mom

The events in the film cover several decades - from 1929 to the beginning of the Great Patriotic War. The daughter of a wealthy village miller, Tatyana, meets Nikolai, the son of a kulak from a neighboring village. They are drawn to each other, but matchmakers from Vasily are already rushing to Tatyana. The girl’s heart is occupied with thoughts of Nikolai, and she refuses the godson of the village chairman. Nikolai and Tatyana decide to be together, and the bride’s parents, Pavel and Martha, bless this union. It seems that there will be no end to the happiness of the young. But surplus appropriation is rampant in the country, and Vasily has been entrusted with responsibility for the confiscation of surpluses from the peasants. And first of all, the offended groom hurries to the Kozlovs’ house, where married Tatyana now lives. To save his son from Vasily’s revenge, Grigory Kozlov forcibly sends Nikolai to Moscow. Soon Tanya follows him, fleeing dispossession and exile. She hopes to find her husband, but finds him in the apartment of a strange woman. In Moscow, a girl finds shelter in the house of a prominent engineer, where she gets a job as a nanny. But the authorities do not spare the influential owners either: Tanya has to flee, saving their little sons. With two children in her arms, it is becoming increasingly difficult for a girl to hide from persecution.
