Georges and Anna lived together all their lives, hand in hand, constantly caring for each other. They are now in their eighties. Anna falls ill and her life begins to gradually fade away: first her memory turns off, then her body refuses to obey, and paralysis sets in. Georges tries to hire nurses, but bitterly realizes that he cannot demand warmth and sincerity of feelings from them.
