Pensioner Valery Petrovich Khodasevich is trying to live for his own pleasure, avoiding stress and overload - there were too many of them in his professional biography as a foreign intelligence colonel. An unexpected visit from the housemate of young businessman Denis Konyshev disrupts the quiet solitude of the retiree. Denis tells the colonel about the mysterious death of his father and asks him to conduct a private investigation. At first, Khodasevich refuses. But - a subtle psychologist and connoisseur of complex life conflicts - he was already tired of sitting idle. The neighbor's proposal clearly intrigues him - and he agrees. But the story that Denis got Khodasevich into turns out to be a tricky one. The old intelligence officer will have to spend a lot of effort to unravel the poisonous tangle in which the relations of the inhabitants of the country house of the Konyshev family are intertwined.
