Desert Flower

The story of Waris Dirie, a simple nomadic girl from Somalia. At the age of 13, she ran away from her family, made her way to Mogadishu, and then ended up in London. A few years later she managed to become one of the most popular models in the world. Waris was not the first black top model, but she was the first woman to publicly condemn the practice of female circumcision, was appointed a special UN ambassador and created the Foundation to Fight FGM.
