Forbidden Planet

Commander Adams and his crew must find out the fate of a colony of earthlings in the Altair IV system, which stopped communicating several years ago. After a year of travel in hyperspace, the ship of the United Planets lands on a planet where they find only two living people - the philologist Morbius and his daughter Altair. All other colonists died for an unknown reason. Morbius insists that the astronauts leave the planet immediately because he cannot guarantee their safety, but the commander decides to stay. That same night, several people die, literally torn apart by some unknown and invisible force. Despite the crew's best efforts, they are unable to resist the alien threat. Their only hope is the powerful robot Robbie, a product of extraterrestrial intelligence, and young Altair.
