If Beale Street Could Talk

19-year-old Tish is engaged to 22-year-old sculptor Fonny. They are preparing for the wedding, Tish is expecting a child, when Fonny is accused of raping Puerto Rican Victoria. A young man is sent to serve a sentence for a crime he did not commit - he was framed by a racist policeman. Meanwhile, Victoria leaves the United States, returns home, and Tish's mother, Sharon, goes after the woman to find evidence of Fonny's innocence.
