In Darkness

The main character of the film is Leopold Socha, a city collector worker and part-time petty thief. When the Nazis occupy Lvov, he accidentally encounters a group of Jews trying to escape being sent to the ghetto. For a monetary reward, he hides the fugitives in the labyrinth of underground communications in the city. What begins as a cynical business arrangement gradually develops into something much more. During this time, when for 14 months women, men and children try their luck, deceiving certain death, Leopold's heart is imbued with a feeling of compassion for these unfortunate people.
