Maria, a 17-year-old Kaqchikel girl, lives with her parents on a coffee plantation at the foot of an active volcano. She will be married to a senior farm worker. But Maria doesn’t care much about this, she strives to discover the world on the other side of the mountain, a place that she can’t even imagine. To achieve her goal, she seduces a plantation worker who wants to flee to the United States.
