A plane crashes over the Atlantic. However, several passengers are mysteriously rescued. Among them is the famous scientist Martin Ivens, who deals with the problem of extending human life. It is he who becomes the chosen one of the aliens who come into contact with earthly civilization. Faced with the problem of moral choice, Ivens refuses to continue his research.
