The events of the film unfold in the Baltic in 1915-1917. The heroes of the film are officers and ordinary sailors of the Baltic Fleet. Senior Lieutenant Artenyev is a brave, strong-willed officer, a man of honor. He loves and is loved, but his beloved, Clara, works for counterintelligence, and they cannot be together.
