Niki and Flo

An elderly reserve colonel, Nicolae, and his wife recently buried their son, and their only daughter, Angela, is about to receive an American visa and leave with her husband for good in the United States. The decision to leave her parents alone is not easy for Angela. Nicolae is torn between the desire to know that her daughter is happy and to be close to her, and also has a hard time experiencing her departure. But this decision is fully approved by her husband’s father, Florian, who believes that young people have nothing to do in Romania, there is no future here, while in America enormous opportunities are open to them. Florian is a typical representative of the bohemian youth of the seventies, energetic and enterprising, most of all he loves making home videos and mocking Nicolae. He laughs at his poverty, at his moral values, at the way he looks. He humiliates his human dignity, once forcing Nicolae and his wife to dress in costumes of cartoon characters. But one day, on the day of the National Army, Nicolae puts on a military uniform, picks up a hammer and goes to visit Florian...
