1944 A young lieutenant is seriously wounded at the front. He arranges his life in a small Soviet town, recently liberated from the fascist occupiers. In civilian life, the lieutenant gets a job in the police. He is immediately included in the investigative team, which is investigating a series of murders of wealthy citizens. Police officers are figuring out the name of the gang leader. Only his sister, who lives in Moscow, can lead him to him. The young lieutenant must place a young woman in the town and, with her help, get on the trail of the bandits...
