The film, dedicated to the 300th anniversary of St. Petersburg, tells the story of the tragic fate of the Russian Emperor Paul the First. “The times of a manly, knightly reign have come!” A dreamer, an idealist, a madman, who has been playing at being a paper builder not for years, but for decades, who does not know or understand the country he has been given to rule, Pavel is dangerous and creepy, like any deranged ruler, and charming, like any young spirit striving to transform the reality under his control for the better.
