Conscripts are not born, but made. Two comrades, who have lost contact with each other in civilian life, unexpectedly meet at the military registration and enlistment office. The city major and the country boy will now pull the army's burden together. Fulfilling civic duty, as usual, is accompanied by a lot of troubles. The main misfortune is “a real colonel.” This is a textbook commander. Such military leaders do not cross the Alps, but they are guaranteed to become heroes of jokes. Recruits experience the usual stories inherent in military life: from “grandfathers” to AWOLs. Sometimes hazing romantic relationships break into the disposition of Russian troops.
