After 23 years of marriage, Harry Mitchell cheats on his wife Barbara while running for city council. When three armed men in masks blackmail him, showing him a compromising videotape on which he is filmed with his passion, and extort a tidy sum, he cannot go to the police - he is afraid of ruining his wife’s career. It gets worse: for failure to comply with their demands, the blackmailers kill the unfortunate girl and, having filmed it, show it to Mitchell. This is where the former major starts his own game...
