Soviet Union, late 70s. At a lecture by the Knowledge Society in Kyiv, an elderly professor talks about strange creatures described by Marco Polo, who also lived on the territory of Ancient Rus'... Soviet Carpathians. A small village lost in the forests near the mountain lake Synevyr. In the morning, secretly from their parents, children - brother and sister Sashko and Ivanka - go fishing from home, they go to Synevyr. At first, the children are busy catching fish and arguing about who will have the bigger catch. Suddenly, a cry of “Aw!” is heard in the forest.
