The Last Years of the Transatlantic Slave Trade

Drawing on a variety of archives: the trade logs of shipowners, slave traders and colonists, letters and diaries written by slaves, original drawings and documents of the time - this documentary depicts the many voices of witnesses to the sad era of the slave trade. We see the tragic lives of Africans who were sold into slavery in Guinea and brought across the ocean to work for slave owners in the French West Indies in the early 1800s. They were separated from their families and their homeland was taken away. They were brought to foreign lands and given new names. This is a love story, a story of slavery.
