The Plague

The action takes place in the 16th century in Seville. At the height of the bubonic plague, several high-ranking members of society are brutally murdered. The frightened authorities entrust Mateo, convicted by the Inquisition court, to unravel this case. Being an enlightened military man and a publisher of banned literature, the hero agrees to the deal in the hope of receiving the forgiveness of the Holy See and saving his life.
