Vadik turns out to be an accidental witness to a trolleybus explosion. Having made a video recording of the incident, he is trying to offer his “sensational” material to Western television companies. In the office of one of them, he meets Helen and realizes that really interesting material could be a new reason for meeting a girl. Armed with a video camera, Vadik turns into a stringer: he records and sometimes even creates video stories on topics that, in his opinion, may be suitable for a foreign television company as hot news from Russia. In search of the next sensation, Vadik meets the leader of a well-known party, Yavorsky, whose prototype was a prominent Russian politician. A new acquaintance allows Vadik to make a video recording of the assassination attempt of this politician. Capturing Yavorsky on film, Vadik becomes one of the people closest to the politician. Yavorsky needs airtime, Helen needs a sensation, Vadik needs a girl’s attention. This simple scheme, undoubtedly, could work, but in Russia simple schemes develop according to very complex laws...
