The film takes place in 1901 in southern Africa. The Boers, immigrants from Europe, defend the independence of the free republics they created. Volunteers from many countries around the world fight in their ranks. One of them, an officer of the Russian fleet Pavel, arrives in Durban and receives a secret task from his contact Anna - to purchase weapons, he will have to find treasures hidden by Portuguese pirates. But their conversation was accidentally overheard by the head of a bandit gang, with whom Pavel had previously had a quarrel. So, two companies - Anna and Pavel and the bandits go in search of treasures...
