Widower writer Paul welcomes his new bride into his gloomy home, who soon notices that something is wrong with his 12-year-old son Marcus. Gloomy and unsociable, over time he begins to seriously frighten her. Her fear intensifies when she learns about the mysterious circumstances surrounding the death of Paul's former wife.
