Bernard Fizet's wife left him. Without a scandal, without mutual reproaches, even without a request for divorce — she just left. In despair over such an act by the woman he loves, Bernard falls into depression. To overcome it, following a psychologist's advice, he moves into a house intended "for bachelors." Here, his neighbor across the hall is Nadine Foulon, who is extremely unlucky with men. One day, Bernard witnesses the girl fainting.
