Former star, singer Nelly Negrodova, and her daughter Masha go abroad - to Garik, Masha's fiancé, to the city where he owns a small hotel, presented by his stepfather. Nelly is invited to Garik's stepfather's anniversary as the star of the evening. Garik tells Nelly about his stepfather, that he is a terrible, terrible man, a tyrant. The case pits Negrodova with Oscar, a homeless man who, apparently, has long lived in this town on a couple with his companion Vago. They live on the beach, often scouring and rummaging through garbage cans. Nelly recognizes her ex-husband in the Oscars, Masha's father, whom she once considered nothing. She thought he died in America. This meeting excited Negrodov. She realizes with horror that she still loves this dirty and downtrodden man
