Love, betrayal, revenge - all mixed in a village farm near Pskov in August 1941. Around the raging war, and here, away from hostilities, play out their passions. Three Soviet prisoners of war who escaped from the Germans hide in a barn near the village headman. One of them, the son of an old man, is in love with his neighbor. But the local policeman also loves her passionately. Ironically, enemies by conviction become rivals in love.
