The hero of the film, the young bartender Vova, is energetic and self-confident. The measure of values ​​for him is money. His future father-in-law Gavrilych, an influential businessman, gave him an abandoned attic for housing and ordered him to convert the basement into a restaurant. In the attic, our hero encounters a strange trinity - impoverished representatives of the artistic bohemia: the suicidal and extraordinary girl Dasha, the alcoholic artist Gena and a strange bald man nicknamed Hu-Pun. Vova wants to adapt them for cheap labor. But this meeting changes his idea of ​​the world. He realizes that the meaning of life can be found in things that are completely useless at first glance - in drawings, melody, in the contemplation of city roofs and floating clouds... He learns that love and sex are completely different things... And Vova’s well-ordered life flies head over heels.
