A wealthy middle-aged woman, Anna, makes an extremely risky proposal to a newlywed couple from San Francisco who are desperate for money. Their agreement is followed by a whole chain of events, which leads to the most unexpected results. Not only the main characters, but also their loved ones, friends and colleagues find themselves in the center of events. Anna skillfully manipulates people, and as a result, initially good characters commit ugly and sometimes vile acts.
