Texas beauty Susan Wright seemed to have a fairytale life with her adoring husband Jeff, two beautiful children and loyal friends. However, in 2003, when their marriage reaches six years and Jeff is found buried in the backyard of their suburban home, this fairy tale is destroyed. The community is shocked as the police accuse Susan of premeditated murder, which includes seducing her husband in the bedroom, tying him up, brutally murdering him by stabbing him nearly two hundred times, and destroying evidence of the crime. To justify her actions, Susan uses an aggressive defense - she had to kill Jeff to protect herself and her children after years of mental and physical terror at the hands of her husband. But prosecutor Kelly Sigler is skeptical of her case and confidently argues that she is a wily, innocent-eyed sociopath who uses her good looks to try to cover up unsavory wrongdoings, including murder.
