A new unknown virus turns Moscow into a city of the dead. There is no electricity, money has lost its value, those who are not yet infected are desperately fighting for food and gasoline. The main character Sergei, his beloved and her autistic son live outside the city, where it is still safe. But he cannot leave his ex-wife and son in trouble, even though she hates him. Sergei goes to Moscow and miraculously takes a woman and child out of the dying capital. On the way, they are also joined by the hero's father and rather arrogant neighbors with a baby. People who in another situation would never have found themselves under the same roof are forced to forget previous grievances and go on a journey full of deadly dangers to the Far North, to a secluded hunting lodge located on an uninhabited island in the middle of a lake.
