Antoine is a civil engineer from Paris whose sister Anne was killed two years ago in a terrorist attack in Cairo. Like the rest of the family, Antoine is still tormented by guilt and still cannot believe what happened. His confusion is intensified by a report he accidentally saw on TV about the Kurdish people's militia: in one of the frames he sees a woman in whom he seems to recognize his sister. But this is impossible, because Anna died in the van explosion. In search of the truth, Antoine goes to Syria, where he joins a detachment of Kurdish female fighters who have been fighting for freedom for a long time and desperately. Together with them, Antoine finds himself in the occupied territories, among terrorists, spies, anarchists and innocent victims.
