It's 1982, and drugs and rock 'n' roll rule the temptation-filled Los Angeles. The endless fun around becomes fertile ground for the emergence from the shadows of the cruel and cunning maniac Kent Granger, who has struck terror into all the residents and inhabitants of the Sunset Strip. The killer finds victims in seedy places, from where he lures them into his own car and drives off to a secluded wasteland. There he deals with the girls and uses their lifeless bodies to satisfy his bestial needs, and then leaves them where the victims are quickly discovered. The Sunset Strip killer has developed a unique style: shortly before killing the victim, he calls the radio and asks to play a song for her, thereby calling the name of his next prey. The number of deaths increases, the Evil City is rapidly drowning in the blood of innocents, and several detectives join forces with journalists, regulars of local clubs and street drug dealers to together find and neutralize the source of horror. Meanwhile, Kent finds a new victim - a nurse and single mother of two children, Betty Beaumont, everything went according to plan, but at a crucial moment his heart trembled - the maniac experienced an unexpected feeling of sympathy for the woman and let her go. A relationship began to develop between them that would eventually make Miss Beaumont an accomplice to Granger's atrocities.
