On the outskirts of a quiet seaside town stands an old lighthouse, showing the way to lost ships. His caretaker, Alexander Nikiforovich Tikhonov, only outwardly seems like a simple, unremarkable man in the street; in fact, he is the leader of a gang of smugglers. His daughter Tatyana, a 20-year-old university student, a sweet and kind girl, is completely unaware of her father’s dark affairs. She knows only his “bright” side, she feels sorry for his mother’s sudden death, and tries to surround him with care and attention. At one time, one of the police officers, Major Konstantin Kravchenko, who himself was not entirely clean, got on the trail of Tikhon’s gang. And the major took a liking to the lighthouse keeper’s daughter. However, not everything is as simple as it seems, and turbulent times are coming in the small town.
