20th Century Women

The events take place in the summer of 1979 in Santa Barbara. Dorothea Fields is raising her teenage son Jamie, trying to give him the best. She draws maternal wisdom from her relationships with two women: Abby, a photographer who is immersed in the punk movement, who is returning to her home, and Julie, a 16-year-old smart troublemaker, a friend of Dorothea’s son. Each of them contributes to Jamie's development as a man.
