1944 Nazi-occupied Bohemia. A young boy, Milos Hrma, starts working at a small railway station. The newcomer tries to be like the dispatcher Gubichka in everything, for whom everything is in order at work and on the heart front: it is a rare lady who does not fall into the arms of Gubichka. Milos is in love with the conductor Masha. But while love passions flare up, the Eastern Front is getting closer and closer. The partisans are making themselves known more and more often, and the German command gives the order to place all trains heading towards the front under special surveillance...
