1922 France. A young man, Dmitry Ovsyannikov, emigrates with his friend Andrei Yusupov to France, where Andrei’s relatives live in the suburbs of Paris - Orly. Andrei, a doctor by training, leaves to work in Paris, and Dmitry remains in Orly and gets a job as an actor in the local theater of Madame Ormont, the wife of a major industrialist, where he meets the charming young milliner Marie Recard. Stormy romances, profitable acquaintances... and soon Dmitry becomes part of the local elite...
