In a turbulent time for France and himself personally, Cardinal Mazarin demands that Queen Anne share with him the names of four friends who successfully helped her in the fight against Cardinal Richelieu. The Queen names d'Artagnan, lieutenant of the royal musketeers. Mazarin summons him to his place and orders him to find Athos, Porthos and Aramis, at the same time trying to attract them to his service. But d’Artagnan manages to fulfill the order only halfway: while Porthos, far from politics, joins him, Athos and Aramis find themselves on the other side of the barricades - they fully support the Fronde, hostile to the cardinal. Thus, former friends turn out to be enemies and their paths will cross much sooner than they could have imagined...
