Free the Nipple is the name of a film and an international movement for women's rights. Today, exposing the breast – including for breastfeeding an infant – is prohibited in 35 American states. In Louisiana, an exposed nipple can lead to imprisonment for up to three years and a fine of $2,500. Even in New York, where going topless was legalized in 1992, police continue to arrest women, according to the movement's website.
