22-year-old Vadim Uporov, following a denunciation, was sentenced to 25 years under Article 58 and sent to one of the Gulag camps. Upon arrival at the camp, he quarrels with the thieves, and with the thief in law Dyak, who sentences him to death. To avoid this fate, he escapes. The escape fails - he is caught, beaten and thrown into a punishment cell in the BUR. Uporov spends six months in the “safe”... Returning to the barracks, he takes part in the conflict between thieves and the “bitches” of the Gulag.
